Zombieland

Scavanged by Hudson Steele

Zombieland comes out this weekend! It’s a Zombie Survival Simulation Documentary starring Woody Harrelson, Jess Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, and even features Bill Murray as himself. It’s directed by relative newcomer Ruben Fleischer but the trailers look interesting. Bring a note pad and pencil; you never know what helpful information you might get.

Zombie Ammo Targets

If Zombies looked like silhouette cutouts with a bunch of concentric circles, I’m sure we’d all have no problem with head shots with enough practice. Unfortunately, they tend to look human with a bit of nastiness thrown in for good measure. That’s why when we go practice shooting, rather then regular old targets, we use the Zombie Targets from Law Enforcement Targets, Inc.. These realistic targets help train you’re eyes in getting used to the sight of the Undead and always aiming for the head. They even have a separate target for the brain showing how it’s positioned based on the Zombies pose. Cheap and available in several designs options, these targets make the ultimate companion for you pre-Zday shooting practice. I like to practice with the Hans target myself, as it feels pretty good letting loose on a Zombie Axis officer.

Nobody likes stalking about alone while you’re moving through any unsecure areas. The buddy system will keep you alive and bite free, but for those times when you need to split up, the Motorola Talkabout lets you stay in touch with your travel buddy. With 22 channels, and a range of approximately 28 miles, the Talkabout is very reliable and you don’t have to worry about finding a 3G tower for a cell signal when you need to call for backup. Even if your loud bright pants don’t blend with the wilds around you, at least you can rest easy knowing your two-way radio will.

After Z-Day you’re probably going to have your rifle with you 100% of the time; and if you don’t, you’re doing something wrong. Since it’s going to be your most obvious accessory, make sure the rifle you choose is solid, reliable and suits your sense of style.
The Browning BAR Safari is arguably on of the sweetest looking hunting rifles available. The glossy walnut stock with the Blued Steel finish create the appearance of high quality while the rest of the gun follows suite. Gas-operated autoloader, multi-lug rotary bolt, detachable box magazine for quick reloading all make this big game rifle a mean, Zombie killing machine. It weighs in at about 7 or 8 lbs., depending on your choice of Caliber.

Esquad Jeans

Esquad Jeans

Sadly, we spend a lot of time at Zprepared debating the best way to keep your legs protected during the Zombie Apocalypse. Tactical Pants; with all the pockets, just offer the Z’s more to grab hold of. Regular jeans; good but limit movement and don’t offer much protection. Leather pants; let’s just say they’re not really a good choice unless you’re a member of the Village People. What we’re looking for a tough, streamlined pant that can take a beating without limiting your movement.
That’s where the Esquad Jeans come in. Originally designed for high speed motorcyclists, these jeans are quite possibly the toughest things you’ll ever wear over your legs. They make those 501′s look like they’re made of tissue paper. In addition to being tough as nails, additional armor has been stitched into the hips, butt, and knees for extra protection. When on the move you should always keep an eye out for crawlers, but with these things on you’ll be a lot safer.

Just in case you had any doubts on how tough these bad boys are, here’s a picture of the jeans holding up a Hummer:

There’s going to be times where you need to carry stuff, but not be encumbered by oversized backpacks and bags. Situations like these call for a light, versatile, rugged bag that allows for maximum movement and can take a beating without damaging your goodies.
The Bob-L-Bee Amphib 15 is perfect for toting your Zprepared equipment in infested areas without worry about being dragged down. It comes packed with several nifty features such as extreme water protection, neoprene shoulder straps for maximum mobility, goggle pocket, and pole/ice axe attachments, which can be used to carry an assortment of weapons. Highland Hiking and Survival Staff

Highland Hiking and Survival Staff

Whenever you’re out for a supply hunt, zombies aren’t the only danger you need to be wary of. Losing your way is always a possibility and not having the right tools to help you get around and survive is a very scary thought. It’s hard to have all the necessary tools on hand, but with the Highland Hiking and Survival Staff you can make sure you’ve got several valuable hiking and survival tools within reach. Developed jointly by Cane Masters (a true authority on self defense canes) and Colorado Search & Rescue, this bad mama jamma is made of 1-inch diameter solid American hickory and weighs in at less than three pounds. The crook designed into the staff helps you reach further for more mobility, on top of giving you a nice hook for grabbing zombie necks and limbs to control the distance in a self defense situation.

It’s got plenty of features to help you get back to base in one bite-free piece as well. 35 feet of paracord, a military designed whistle that can be heard from a mile away, a steel chisel tip (for piercing zombie faces), a fluid suspended compass and a bit of swedish firesteel to top it all off.
