Yeah yeah, I said you should be carrying a sleek, sexy multi-tool, but this one’s too good to pass up. The Switch Tool modular pocket knife lets you decide how bulky or sleek your multi-tool is. Three swappable interior axels let you decide how thin this thing is in your pack. Bring only what you need, quickly and easily, swapping out unnecessary tools to keep the bulk minimized. With 18 tool attachments to choose from, there are quite a few combinations you can put together, hopefully finding your favorite go-to configuration to quickly salvage, repair or disassemble when you know there are zombies in the area and you don’t have time to fiddle around with a bunch of tools in the kit.

A good multi-tool is always a nice thing to have. You can be pretty sure that there will be several clunky brick-like multi-tools accessible in your crew, so what you need is a sleek, high-quality folding knife with a few added “tools” thrown into the mix. The Surefire Delta folder is a rugged, lightweight combat/utility knife that fits that role quite nicely. The additional tools are very easy to miss, since they’re so well incorporated into the handle of the knife, like finger guard pulling double duty as a screw driver. There’s also a wire cutter/crimper (accepting up to a 12 gauge wire), a cord/harness cutter, a self-seating wrench and a window breaker. It’s the sexiest six-in-one you’ll be packing out in the wildz.

We found a few items that we discussed earlier from TShirtBordello.com, so I think we should point out something that focuses on looking good while you’re out there crushing zombie skulls. There are quite a few fun and clever designs (zombie-related and just plain geek-friendly) that you can stock up on, so you don’t have to run around sporting the same joke garment as yesterday. While I’m generally sporting a helpful shirt reminding everyone of Rule #2, It’s always nice to have the option to represent Al Bundy with a Polk High jersey while going all “Psycho Dad” on the zeds as well. Of course relaxing with a nice cup’o'joe afterwards with a cool but ironic “I heart zombies” mug is always nice too.

Having a big rugged 4×4 isn’t always a guarantee that you can always get through any terrain. In the old world, you had the luxury of taking your time to get out of a jam. Sure it wasn’t always pleasant, but you didn’t have to worry about a pack of zombies zeroing in on your position. That’s where the Lift Trax portable traction system comes into play. It gives you a quick portable way of giving your hooptie a lift when you get stuck, or make a seemingly impassable gap into something you can just hop right over with a little tap of the gas pedal.

Digging around for supplies and survivors requires excellent vision, so you’ve always got to keep your eyes safe, so you can spot zombies when you’re “out there”. The Oakley Crobwar MX sand goggles are designed to keep even the finest particles of sand out of your eyes, so of course they’ll perform very well when you’re swinging away, and marching through the mist of all the zeds you’re dropping. The Crowbar MX comes with a clear lens for low light, as well as a grey lens for mid to bright light, giving you truer color recognition, making it much easier to pick out walking corpses.

Hoyt Carbon Matrix Bow

When you’re out in the field dropping zeds at range, it’s one thing to have a high quality compound bow, but it’s another altogether to have a Hoyt Carbon Matrix compound bow. A hollow carbon tube riser gives this thing unparalleled ability for such a light weight, short compound bow. A sexy weapon packed with innovative features and ground-breaking performance, the price tag should give anyone serious about hunting zombies with a bow a reason to pause.

Making weight at just shy of four pounds, with an axel to axel length of 35″, the Hoyt Carbon Matrix performs just as well as a longer, heavier bow. Not to mention, if you quietly put some shafts into the eyeballs of a few shamblers, its pretty much guaranteed to “draw” the attention of anyone you’ve rescued.

If you’re going to choose to go to battle against a few walking corpses, you should make sure your weapon of choice has all the traits that you’re gonna need to rely on. With the Hoyt, you’ve got superior performance, silent (un)kills at range, light weight and compact, and not to mention this thing has style written all over it.

I’m sure with some practice, a seasoned zombie killer can put on quite a show. Who knows…maybe three arrows simultaneously, like classic comic book archers, isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility. Just don’t try that stuff if I’m the one your’e trying to save out there.
