There’s a lot of crap in the air, and it’s only going to get worse when the zombies show up. particulate matter, paint fumes and vapors are the least of your concerns when you paste a zed at close range with some double-ought buckshot at point blank range. You can’t risk breathing that stuff, but 3M has got you (or at least your face) covered with the 7000 series full faceplate respirator. It doesn’t matter if you reduce those Thriller video extras to a fine grayish-red mist, you can breathe easy, knowing you won’t be taking a piece of them with you, stowed away in your lungs. Plus the wide faceplate doesn’t restrict your vision, so even if you can’t smell them coming, you can still see them flanking you.

Armor Pro Tactical Knee and Elbow Pads

Running around looking for survivors and survival gear, or on the move from zombies, you don’t want to worry about cracking your elbow or knee on the asphalt while tripping over stray bones. You could probably get away with typical sports gear, but I’m sure you would rather slap on some Armor Pro Tactical Pads. This extremely durable hard shell protective gear is comfortable, tough and still allows full mobility. The knee pads feature a metal rivet hinge to allow a full range of motion while still offering full protection and coverage. The elbow pads feature a “grippy” cap is good for contact on all surfaces and can slide up and down for personal adjustments and fit. Just be sure to resist the urge to grab a shambler in a Muay Thai plum to throw some crushing knee strikes, or dropping a flying atomic elbow off the dumpsters. Common sense is still a much more reliable form of protection.

It’s pretty clear that you’ve got to make sure that your clothing provides ample protection in the ZApocalypse, but sporting great looking and highly functional clothing makes survival just a bit more bearable. You’re still human after all, and it’s nice to remind yourself of what humanity has left behind (and is fighting for once again). Grab a First Gear Teton Motorcycle Jacket featuring d3o intelligent shock absorption, so you can move about in style, while also sporting a protective garment when you’ve got to dispatch a group of ghouls that don’t really appreciate your fashion forward sensibility. The Teton has d3o gel in the shoulders and elbows for unparalleled flexible impact resistance. Especially if your main mode of transportation is a motorcycle. Not to mention, the zip-in liner is a stylish standalone wind/waterproof jacket with microfleece for warmth.

Neptunic ‘C’ Suit

Neptunic ‘C’ Suit

The ‘C’ Suit from Neptunic is the ultimate in Shark and Zombie bite protection. Originally designed to protect divers from the ocean’s largest predator, no amount of biting and clawing will force it’s way thru the ‘C’ Suit’s head to toe protection. Fashioned from steel mesh, high-tech fibre, titanium and hybrid laminate, this chain mail suit will ensure you get away from virtually any skirmish, big or small, relatively unscathed as long as you’re not corned. Because of the composite materials, it’s relatively lightweight when compared to the ones that came out of the 80′s so you can easily flee if you’re overwhelmed. Even if the Z-Apocalypse involves land based Zombie Sharks, this suit will have you covered.

Twinbow II Crossbow

Twinbow II Crossbow

Silent but Deadly is a good model to use when trying to dispose of the Walking Dead. The problem becomes that; chances are the quieter your weapon, the closer you have to be. One good alternative is to use old fashioned projectile weapons like Crossbows and Longbows. Unfortunately, Longbows require a lot a skill, and the time it takes to load and cock your Crossbow could spell death.
Thank the people at Swiss Crossbow Makers for the Twinbow II. The innovative cocking system takes about 3 seconds after firing, which in Crossbow terms is lightening fast. It’s easy enough for just about anyone to do too, “whether physically challenged, young or old, women or men“. Don’t think you’re sacrificing any power or precision either: This sucker shoots at up to 370 FpS and is impossible to cock off center. Oh yeah, it’s also doesn’t hurt that it’s Swiss made; if the quality is anything like their Watches and Knives, you know it’s good.

You can check out some cool videos of the 3 second cocking action here and here. They’re totally worth a watch.

Blade Runner Slash-Proof Hooded Top

Blade Runner Slash-Proof Hooded Top

Just because you’re wearing armor doesn’t mean you have to look like you’re geared up to play Catcher for the Yankee’s. A lot of that stuff could weigh you down and all those straps and buckles just give the Zombies more to grab onto. You also have to consider that going to work and out to a bar in you’re Zombie protective suit makes you look like a fool before Z-Day.
That’s why until then, we suggest you wear the Slash-Proof Hooded Top from Blade Runner. This innocuous sweat shirt looks like your standard fair, but hidden under it’s cool exterior is a lining of Level 2 slash tested woven Kevlar. If it’s good enough to stop a blade from cutting your tender flesh, it’s more than enough to stop the clawing and biting of a hungry ghoul. Just one word of advice: Make sure you tuck the hood in when the outbreak occurs.

Stinger 20×36 Electronic Shield – Convex

Stinger 20×36 Electronic Shield – Convex

Barricades are great for keeping zombies at bay, but when your out in the field you can’t bring your fortifications with you. Stinger Systems Ice Electrified Shield gives you a portable barricade that you can use to keep any unwanted visitors back. The Convex shape prevents undead flailing and grabbing limbs from reaching around and getting a grip on your clothing or extremities. The bonus of this shield is the ability to shock any living threats with the flip of a switch. Not all your problems are of the undead variety. Great for urban exploration with two person teams.

#CRT-300 : Vector 3 – The ULTIMATE Riot Gauntlet

It’s a good idea to protect the tools that use your tools. All the weapons in the world are useless against the Undead if your hands are mangled and chewed beyond recognition. That’s why you’re going to need a good pair of gloves that are Zombie ready and offer a good deal of protection without sacrificing mobility.
The Vector 3 Riot Gauntlet from Damascus Gear is perfect for battling Hordes of Brain Munchers. It features hard shell Carbon-Tek fiber knuckles and panels to deflect blows and debris, concealed in bite proof leather that will ensure that your hands don’t get all banged up. Fluid-proof inner glove linings to protect from Bloodborne pathogens so there’s no worry of getting infected if by chance some of the virus sneaks thru. Oh yeah, it also has hard shell plastic trauma plates with additional closed cell foam padding to protect from really nasty biters. With these puppies in your arsenal, it’s safe to say that you have your hands pretty well covered.

Dark Knight Leather Motorcycle Suit

Dark Knight Leather Motorcycle Suit

Zombies know no fear. If they did, however, I’m pretty sure this officially licensed motorcycle suit from WB would strike fear into the hearts, souls, “whatevers” of the Undead.
Aside from looking Badass, this suit comes with some pretty nifty features. It has a strong Cordura mesh base with heavy-duty 4 way stretch spandex inserts so it offers decent mobility. There’s also removable body armor in both the jacket and the pants so there’s plenty of protection from falls. Most importantly, it features form molded leather and Kevlar armor sections to protect from nasty bites and scratches to keep you from getting infected.
I wouldn’t suggest wearing a cape and running around screaming “I’m Batman”, that’s a really bad idea.

Hilco Wilson Zoom Sports Glasses

Hilco Wilson Zoom Sports Glasses

Scavanged by Hudson Steele

Two of your greatest weapons against the Undead are your mobility and awareness of your surroundings.  What you see, or don’t see, largely effects your chance at surviving an outbreak.  The last thing anyone needs is be cornered by a group of Zombies and have your glasses fall off your face and being forced to search around for them like Thelma from Scooby-Doo.

That’s where the Hilco Wilson Zoom Sports Glasses ($99.99-$129.99) come in handy.  They’re tough, durable, well secured, and keep nasty things such as debris and blood from getting into your eyes when in sticky situations.  I would suggest a pair, even if you don’t need a perscription.
