Cheeseburger in a Can

Cheeseburger in a Can

Scavanged by Hudson Steele

At Zprepared we love our canned foods. Unfortunately, eating String Beans an Chicken Noodle Soup meal after meal gets old pretty fast. After a few months of the same old same old, nothing sounds better than biting into a big juicy Cheeseburger, but chances are you’re not going to be able to pull into your local drive-thru to get you fix.

That’s why we suggest picking up a few cases of Cheeseburger in a Can from Trek’n Eat. Just throw this sucker into some hot water for a few minutes, pop that can, and enjoy. It has a shelf life of about 12 months and there’s no need to refrigerate. Now all we need is some Fries in a pouch, and Milkshake in a bottle and we’re good to go.

There are so many things that are right with Tactical Bacon I don’t even know where to start. It’s Bacon, comes in a can, requires no preparation, has a ten year shelf life, and it’s Bacon in a frickin’ can! Even the folks at Think Geek who are selling this product know its Zombie Apocalypse potential. Each can comes with 54 strips of delicious bacon so there’s plenty to go around, or you can just choose to be a selfish jerk and keep it all to yourself.

There’s no telling how long it’s going to be available so pick up a few cans NOW!

Hostess Twinkies

If I’ve learned anything from watching Family Guy, it’s that the Twinkie is the ultimate survival food. Even though their shelf life is greatly exaggerated, 25 days rather than years as some people claim, that doesn’t mean they’re not useful. Any food that is compact, high in sugar, and doesn’t taste like cardboard could be a lifesaver when trips to the grocery store are out of the question. After a few days of eating ration bars and backpacking food, you’ll understand. I like to keep a box in my pantry, just in case. Just don’t expect to open a year old box and dive in without getting sick afterwards.

When you’re on the go, there’s not always going to be enough time to break for a meal, and lugging around enough food can take up precious space in your pack. That’s why when you’re on the move to a new area, or spending the day scavenging for supplies, we suggest bringing along a good meal bar to keep you energized and alert.
The Mayday Emergency Food Ration contains a whopping 3600 calories per bar, and is high in all recommended vitamins. It can be stored in up to 146 degrees and requires no preparation; just open and eat. If rationed properly, this sucker can last for 3 days but you’re probably going to end up polishing it off in 2, especially if you’re mobile. When it comes down to a choice of living off the Mayday Bar, or succumbing to the Undead and un-living off brains, I’d choose the Mayday Bar any day of the week.

If you’re anything like us, you’re preparing for the long haul. That means a fortified shelter, lots of supplies, and a plan to sustain yourself once the dust settles a little. When your food stores run out you’re going to need a way to sustain yourself, and other survivors you’ve collected along the way. When the going gets tough, the though get GROWING.

Most people don’t realize that the Produce you buy in the grocery store are of a Hybrid variety, meaning you can’t just plant the seeds from a Golden Delicious and expect to grow an apple tree. We recommend having your own supply of self germinating, survival ready seeds to grow your own crops. The Survival Seed Bank fits the bill perfectly. This kit comes with all the basics for starting your own renewable food source. It features 22 varieties of Open Pollinated “Super Seeds” that yield a full acre of nutrient-dense food crop. They’re individually vacuum packed for maximum shelf life; up to 20 years at 70 degrees, and up to 100 years when frozen so they’ll be ready to plant when you are. The kit also includes a nifty bottle of “Nitro Seed Starter Solution” to help jump-start your crop and a handy manual for rookies. All you need to supply is the land, water, ample light, and the manpower to make it happen. While the rest of the world is scrounging for leftover cans of baked beans, you’ll be feasting on fresh healthy veggies grown with your own hands.
