Pistols and Shotguns are great additions to any anti-zombie arsenal, but having a quality rifle to put zombies down at long ranges is a great morale booster when the shamblers come knocking on your perimeter fence. The Sigarms Sig556 ER fits that role very well. this rifle fires the abundantly available 5.56 NATO round, giving you the ability to carry more ammunition compared to the larger 7.62. The Sig556 gives you much better accuracy to make those head shots before any pesky zombies get within your personal space. However, the compact 16 inch barrel, and collapsing stock allows you to keep this rifle in play when they get too close, or if you’ve got to clear tight spaces.

We here at Zprepared aren’t the only ones that feel this bad boy is great for dropping skull chewers, this particular weapon is also featured in Resident Evil 5, and does a mighty fine job of sapping the unlife right out of any pesky zombies trying to feast on your gray matter.

TAC 15 Tactical Assault Crossbow

Come Z-Day, you’re going to have to make some tough decisions about your inventory. When making a selection for your primary weapon, both the rifle and crossbow are great options. The rifle has great power, unequaled range, and potential for a decent payload. Unfortunately, you might as well be ringing a dinner bell in congested areas and once you’re out of ammo, it’s done. The Crossbow is silent, the bolts are re-useable, and allows for long distance kills without the need for gunpowder. This too has drawbacks as the reload time can be unbearable and the bolts take up precious space.

Luckily, the boys at PSE Archery has made sure that you don’t have to decide between to two. The TAC-15 is a crossbow that mounts onto a standard AR-15 lower receiver. It shoots at an amazing 412 fps so you know it’ll pack a punch. You don’t have to worry about being stuck in crossbow mode when things get tough because it’ll easily convert into the standard whenever you need.

With the TAC 15, you have the best of both worlds with minimal sacrifice. Rifle and scope pictured not included.
